Congress Preparing to Reauthorize Key Legislation

Green Charter School Leaders Make Your Voice Heard!

March 01, 2023

Environmental and outdoor education as well as charter schools are key topics highlighted separately but, also, simultaneously on the U.S. House Committee on Education and Labor Web site as Congress prepares to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). ESEA is the nation’s primary federal education law, which also is known as the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. That’s great news for green charter school leaders who want to explain the connection between chartering and environmental education to make a difference in public education nationwide. There is much talk (and a lot of rumors) in Washington, D.C., that the Obama administration is leaning toward including environmental education in this major reauthorization. Check the committee roster to see if your representatives have a seat at the table and send your ideas directly to your local congress people. Other green charter school leaders are encouraged to send comments to the committee’s special ESEA mailbox before March 26, 2010. Share your comments with others through the GCSN.
